ARACHNE
Inspired by the Life of artist Blacksmith Alan Evans and the Stroud Walled gardens, this piece was designed around the theme of "what comes after?".
Arachne's design developed through sketching and slowly abstracting parts of the gardens flora, taking time to research how these elements could contribute to the theme i wanted to convey. Developing the piece to reflect the question of what comes next and how a craftsmen can live on through those he's inspired.
The sculptures name Arachne, is a homage to the Greek myth of a girl so gifted at her craft of weaving, that it drew the attention of the gods which resulted in her transformation into the first spider so she could forever weave and create.
